The Creative World of Cindy Harris

A place to collect and share all of the interesting things I do

Autoharp and Old Time Fiddle

Well, yes, that…and bass, a little lap dulcimer, a little banjo, and maybe some piano.  I’ve been making music as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until I picked up an autoharp in 1996 that I got serious about making portable music.  Since then I’ve not only placed second or third in almost every autoharp contest I’ve entered since 2008, I’ve traveled from Pennsylvania to California, New York, Australia, England, Tasmania, and I’ve forgotten how many other states teaching and performing on autoharp and fiddle.  Check out some of the videos and photos I’ve been fortunate enough to gather. And definitely check out my latest CD “Potluck! Cindy Harris and Friends Cook Up Tasty Autoharp Duets“.

I also play with a lovely autoharp-centric contradance band called GrayScale ContraBand. The band has its own website so I won’t duplicate here, but do check us out — we’ve done some fun things, and we’re about to do even more fun down in Australia in January 2020.

2019 Mountain Laurel Autoharp Champion

It only took 11 tries between 2008 and 2019. I made the final ten times, placed in the top three six times, and finally won. Here’s a video of me playing “Banish Misfortune” in the final round:

2017 International Autoharp Champion

Yep, that’s me. I won the competition at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas after placing second four consecutive times.  Pretty good fun!
