The Creative World of Cindy Harris

A place to collect and share all of the interesting things I do

Photographer

OK, so I’m not a “professional photographer.” But ever since cameras got small enough that I could carry one with me everywhere, I’ve been taking photos of interesting stuff.  Sometimes it’s just about textures:  tree bark, moss, leaves on a sidewalk, bricks, stone, the infinite variety of plants.  Sometimes it’s flowers: my garden in its wildness, blooming trees, other people’s tulips.  Sometimes it’s scenery:  sunsets, vistas of mountains, bridges and the water underneath them, city buildings. And on rare occasions, it’s people, caught in the act of dancing or playing music or singing.  Sometimes I process photos with various digital tools to create something entirely different.  Sometimes what I capture through the lens (mostly my iPhone 4S, nothing more) is more than enough.  Hopefully you’ll enjoy them too.

Fava Bean Fantasy

Fava Bean Fantasy

I was cooking fava beans and added some olive oil.  The oil was making such interesting patterns that I had to stop and take some photos.   Then I processed this one with Snapseed to create this interesting image.

Amaryllis Emerging

Amaryllis Emerging

I've had this amaryllis since my youngest daughter was born 25 years ago and it blooms every year.  And it always surprises me:  it will put out one leaf sometime in December to tell me it's ready to be watered, then just sit there for a couple of months.  I noticed...

Pittsburgh at Sunset

Pittsburgh at Sunset

At The Bedside

At The Bedside

Three members of the Pittsburgh Threshold Choir were singing at a bedside when I caught a photo of them from the doorway.  On its own it wasn't very good -- the angle was terrible and the lighting was poor.  But with a little cropping, some Snapseed highlighting and a...

Allemande Right

Allemande Right

Someone caught a photo of me dancing, I Ithink at last year's Fall Dance Weekend.  I liked the photo, but I love the Waterlogue watercolor.
