Contradance and Square Dance Calling

Somehow I didn’t find out that there was a wonderful, active dance community right in my own home town until 1998.  But once I’d discovered it, I fell in love, and have been calling dances since 2000.  And I’ve been fortunate enough to have fabulous mentors here in Pittsburgh who not only demonstrated several distinct varieties of excellent calling, but encouraged me to call from the time that I only knew how to call two dances.  Since then I’ve branched out, and I’ve had the great pleasure of calling dances not only in Pittsburgh and the surrounding midwest region, but east to Philadelphia and New Jersey, west to California, and around the world to Tasmania, Australia and England. And even better I now have friends in pretty much any area of the country I happen to visit, and many abroad as well.  Enjoy this clip of me calling a square in Pittsburgh a couple of years ago.  I’ll put up more if someone happens to take another.
